Employment Program

Homelessness is a matter of poverty

of not having access to resources. For those who are ready to enter the work force, having a job and getting a paycheck is a direct answer to that condition. The Employment Program provides assistance in training and employment for those who are ready, including those who have gone through the Recovery Program.

The program offers participants employment training opportunities, transportation to interviews and orientations, resume and referral assistance, assistance with off-site housing, higher education information and access to a computer, phone, and fax. Moreover, the program coordinator has established working relationships with a number of employers and employment agencies. In keeping with a philosophy of personal responsibility, the program does not usually find a job for a client but rather supports the client’s efforts at finding gainful employment. In doing so, it coordinates with and uses the services of the Kentucky Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, Employment Solutions and private employers throughout the community.
