Detention Center Recovery Program
In August 2002,
the Hope Center began operating the Detention Center Recovery Program for Men. In July 2006, a recovery program for women inmates was established. Both the men’s and the women’s programs are identical, innovative six-month substance abuse recovery programs modeled on the Hope Center’s established program for homeless substance abusers. These programs basically consist of the 28 lessons of Recovery Dynamics, cognitive, behavioral intervention classes to alter criminal thinking patterns, and participant “communities” in which the inmates hold each other accountable for their behavior and recovery issues. In addition, all participants attend regular AA meetings conducted in the Detention Center by AA volunteers.
